4 seasons in a day
After temperatures in Melbourne hitting 31 degrees yesterday, what a change today, 17 and rainy.
I know that we need all the rain that we can get with the drought and all, but I know the real reason that its raining this morning: its because I watered the garden last night. normally joe does it, but after dinner last night i braved the mosquitoes and spent an hour in the dark with the watering can. today i have 3 mozzie bites

palm tree update
Mum phoned last night from the UK, to ask how the palm trees were doing! its true, ask rowie.
Actually, they are not very well at the moment. The big alexandra palm had 2 dead leaves that I cut off, now the remaining 3 leaves have all gone brown and crispy. Oops. I think they were raised indoors and got a bit of a shock getting a weekend of 36 degree heat, then strong winds, then getting cold this weekend. The majestic palm is not looking too majestic either, its gone a bit yellow

palm trees and hammer
some of the results of our planting over the past few weekends. the number of plants doesnt look that much but we managed to completely fill a big estate car that we hired for the day. i was picking bits of leaf out of my ears for days afterwards.
since we got the big alexandra palm we've had some really strong winds in melbourne and its taken a bashing, dunno whether it will survive or not. we've also put clumping bamboo along the other fence to try and block out tony.
