new kate bush song

Have ya seen the new Kate Bush single / video yet? We both thought she was looking a bit old... jowly... or is that being nasty. Maybe its unflattering lighting. Joe was chatting about this to a Kate Bush afficianado at his work (who has all the KB CDs lined up on his desk) who said its just cos we havent seen her for 12 years, and we are used to Madonna looking haggard cos we've seen her age over the years.

So that prompted me to get out the Kate Bush film The Line The Cross and The Curve (dont know if it was released in Aus?), just to watch her last offering from 1993. It also shows off Kate's acting skills which we are told she is very proud of.

who reads this anyway?

I phoned my mum & dad at the weekend, and found out they read this blog (hi mum!) - they knew all about me selling my bike and the delays with the house before I'd even said anything. good to hear they're up with all the latest technology.

we went to the flicks on saturday night, saw The 40 Year old Virgin. Very funny, we recommend it, 5 Trudi-shoulder-pads rating. Even funnier than Australian Idol
...... (hmm, who will be voted out tonight?)

house reno week 27 take two

house reno week 27!

Still not fully installed, the Gas booster is still to be added. The panels are covered so that the thing doesn't start trying to convert sunlight to hot water till the tank is plumbed in.

Not the most attractive object, but it won't be visible from inside the house or from the garden, once the place is finished.

Week 27 has seen a flurry of activity, all set for the delivery of the frames for all of the glass - which constitute 2/3 of the walls.

roof / vampire

They have put up some of the roof on the house...... but it looks a bit wrong, they have not a box gutter on the main bit. Phoned the architect about it, he said he got our emails and fax but has not looked at them yet. Grrr, must try to not get so involved. But then it seems we are spotting so many of the builders / architects / engineers mistakes. Hmm, how sad / boring must we sound to other, more normal, non-house-building people.

Watched a good dvd over the weekend, Blade - featuring the quiet and sensitive Wesley Snipes as a half vampire. Oh, and we had an Indian takeaway. I've only ever had curries about 2 or 3 times before, they're normally too hot for me but I liked the pompodores with mango chutney.

house update

we had a long meeting last night with the builder and the architect to try and work out why our house building is so far behind and to try and set a new realistic starting date. it now doesnt look like it will be done for christmas :(

there has been delays all along but especially with the structural steel and now it seems with ordering the windows. where so much of the house is floor to ceiling glass, until the window frames are in not much else can be done because the windows set the level of the floor and the ceiling. it has really been getting to us both this last few weeks. it is very frustrating to visit the house at the weekend and discover that not much has changed, or when Tony tells us that the builders only turned up for half a day that week.

the result is althought the builder is still aiming for end of december, it is more likely to carry over to next year. the architect reckons march! yikes. that would make the whole project time 2 years!

sunburn

Great weather this weekend in Melbourne, but today I have a sunburned thumb and tip of my nose. Must have missed those bits with the sunblock when we went to the beach yesterday.
