whipper snipper
We learnt a new word this week: whipper snipper. Ileus (next door neighbour) asked us if we had a petrol-powered whipper snipper that he could borrow and we didnt know what he was talking about. Joe thought that it meant some kind of flagellation device. Then we saw whipper snippers in the shops that were just strimmers (for cutting the edge of lawns). Is it an Aussie phrase? like 'dead horse' (sauce) and 'ridgy didge' (can't remember what that one means)
